Our manufacturing division was formed in 1987, under the trading name of Cumulus Pump Sets, to develop packaged pump set business opportunities. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Engineer Apprentice based at our Waterlooville office.
The Role
Tricel (Portsmouth) are looking for an apprentice to assist workshop engineers in manufacturing of pump booster sets & bespoke pumping solutions and in the repair/ overhaul of customers pumps
Responsibilities
Assist in the production of pump booster sets
Learn the various welding techniques required (training will be given)
Operation of manufacturing machinery (training will be given)
Assembly of pipework components
Wiring of pump control panels & variable speed drives (training will be given)
Verifying operation & testing of booster sets prior to despatch.
Repair/ overhaul of customers pumps – including mechanical seals & motor bearings
Using electrical test equipment (training will be given)
Attending a training facility as part of an Apprenticeship programme – one day per week

The Role
Tricel (Portsmouth) are looking for an Internal Sales team member who will assist in building and maintaining an active customer base, by supporting and working alongside internal teams to develop new sales as well as maintaining existing customer accounts. By applying sales skills, the Internal Sales person will capitalise on commercial opportunities through negotiation of prices and products in order to achieve the sales targets set by the Management Team.
Responsibilities
- Working closely alongside the Sales Team Leader, sales team, internal departments, customers and suppliers to maintain the highest levels of service.
- Liaise with members of the Sales Team to share customer and product knowledge to achieve regular sales and maintain high levels of service.
- Liaise with members of other internal teams (Service, Order Processing, Accounts, Stores) to ensure a smooth process for the customer from enquiring to paying the invoice.
- Use your own initiative to make profits, selling stock products where applicable.
- To work within the pricing and discount policy of the Company and within any discount or margin guidance laid down by the Sales Director and supplier.
- Maintaining the highest customer service levels.
- Provide regular feedback to the Sales Team and Team Leader.
- Updating company databases as required.
- Delivering upon customer requests in a timely manner. Answering incoming phones & taking accurate details
Skills & Characteristics
Key Skills and Experience
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to present written information in a structured and balanced way appropriate to the needs of the reader.
- Good telephone manner.
- Ability to communicate well at all levels (dealing with a range of clients from engineers to Directors).
- IT literate.
- Good numeracy skills and understanding of profit / margins.
- Good commercial problem solving approach to customers as well as excellent negotiation skills.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Technical aptitude is an advantage.

The Role
Tricel (Portsmouth) are looking for a Service Engineer to carry out reactive and planned service, maintenance and commissioning visits to pumps, booster sets & pressurisation units on customer premises / sites. The Service Engineer will provide service excellence to our customers presenting the Company in the best possible way. We are encouraging applications from internal applicants and all applications will be considered.
Responsibilities
The Service Engineer will be responsible for the following areas:
- Carry out on site maintenance to an array of pumping equipment including Booster Sets/PU etc.
- Carry out on site overhauls and repairs to an array of pumping equipment including Booster sets/PU etc.
- 24 hour call out rota working in conjunction with existing engineers to provide 24 hour call out.
- Attend site to breakdown situations restoring facilities where possible
- Provide accurate and detailed job reports within specified time
- Provide accurate and detailed time sheets within specified time
- Carry out any and all requests by management to benefit the Department
Skills & Characteristics
Experience Required
- Good knowledge of pump applications to include all aspects of building services
- Good Understanding and Knowledge of Controls systems
- Good level knowledge in respect of the latest technology available in the pump industry
- Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
